Marlena Fraune Selected as Phi Beta Kappa Electee at Beloit College

Marlena Fraune, of Waukesha, WI, has been selected as a Phi Beta Kappa electee at Beloit College.

Forty members of the class of 2012 and three members of the class of 2013 have been honored as the 2012 Phi Beta Kappa electees at Beloit College. In addition, two members of the class of 2012, who were elected in 2011, are also included on the list.

For over 200 years, election to Phi Beta Kappa has been a recognition of intellectual capacities well employed, especially in the acquiring of an education in the liberal arts and sciences. The objectives of humane learning encouraged by Phi Beta Kappa include intellectual honesty and tolerance, range of intellectual interests, and understanding – not merely knowledge.

Phi Beta Kappa was founded on Dec. 5, 1776, at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Beta of Wisconsin, the 81st chapter to be established, was recognized at Beloit College at Commencement on June 19, 1911.

Beloit College is a residential, liberal arts college offering 40 majors to its 1,250 students. Located 90 miles northwest of Chicago, Beloit is one of the nation's most international colleges, drawing students from 41 nations as well as 48 states.
